The International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) is the most prestigious and important literary prize in the Arab world.
Its aim is to reward excellence in contemporary Arabic creative writing and to encourage the readership of high-quality Arabic literature internationally. They do this through the translation and publication of winning and shortlisted novels in other major languages.
Design
The International Prize for Arabic Fiction approached us with the vision to reinvent the look of their website. ExtraDigital produced a web design that matched and connected with the cultures IPAF was targeting.
We ensured the site had all the necessary elements such as the right to left viewing, background imagery and banner images. As the website, would be available in both Arabic and English our design took care to make sure there was a smooth transition from one language to another.
The admin area was also created to provide a great user experience for both Arabic and English Users.
Project Planning
We drafted clear a clear timeline taking the project through the design and build phases into testing and training. We considered carefully the admin backend usability to ensure all content was uploaded correctly in Arabic and English.
Intelligent banners were included with Call to Action buttons. Plus, we made sure older resources were neatly and intuitively available to users.
As another key aim of the prize is to encourage translations of important Arabic work. The website included a dedicated section to support this work.
Results
ExtraDigital took IPAF from a dated website guiding them through the design and development to a fresh looking modern site while still incorporating the previous brand guidelines as defined by the trustees.
