Update on no-code website builders

Looking to build a website without coding? Yes, you can. Here we review some of the no-code website builders that let you create a site without any programming skills. With these tools, you can:

  • Build a one-page personal site
  • Quickly set up a landing page to test an idea
  • Launch a professional website for your business
  • Start a marketing blog to promote your brand

Webflow

Webflow for no-code websites

Webflow stands out as the most powerful no-code website builder available in 2021

We feature it first because it’s not only the most widely used, but also the most versatile platform for building websites without coding. With its intuitive drag-and-drop functionality, you can create everything from simple sites to complex e-commerce platforms. It’s the top choice for anyone who wants to design a professional website and it prepared to spend time learning – it can almost do too much and can be confusing.

  • Webflow states you can build anything you can imagine. Actually, there are major restrictions with both complex ‘scored’ forms, and also some languages especially right-to-left character sets.
  • ExtraDigital recommends you start with UI kits and templates – these are good
  • The software has a steep learning curve for both developers and those who cannot code.
  • Monthly fees. Starting at $16/month

carrd website builder

Carrd website builder

Carrd.co offers simple, free, and fully responsive one‑page sites for virtually any purpose—from personal websites to landing pages and beyond, with integrations like Stripe, PayPal, Gumroad, and Typeform.

  • Best one‑page website builder – simple
  • Dozens of templates for personal portfolios
  • Free plan available, or host up to three websites for just $9/year

This is a relatively new startup business, developed from personal projects and promoted by Product Hunt.  This has very low market share in 2021 but a chance of making it big. It has concentrated on integrations rather ability to add advanced on-page functionality such as scored forms.

Wix, Squarespace and Weebly

We’ve grouped these competitors together as they all offer a very similar product offering.

These all provide a drag‑and‑drop builder and are known for their extensive template library and user-friendly interface. For simple or common functionality they work well. But can be very difficult to get more complex functionality onto a webpage.

We have been comparing no-code builders for which allow users to build logic on forms or handle right to left languages; these three do not do well here.

Dorik

Dorok no-code website builder

Dorik allows non coders to build websites based on a library of templates and UI components. This is one of the newer no-code builders, been public for less than a year. It is aiming at the lower end of the market. ExtraDigital recommend waiting a bit to see how this develops and how quickly bug fixes are dealt with.

Versoly

Versoly no-code website CMS

Versoly aims for pixel-perfect code which could do very well for organic listings and SEO. It uses pre-built templates, blocks, and a CMS to build landing pages. It is hosted on Amazon Web services, which combined with the code quality produces fast websites.

It provides a lot of more enterprise level functionality with links to email marketing, marketing automation and CRM systems.
